I am so happy. My air cleaner and hose and clamps are here. This weekend I hope to be out riding. Everthing I need to get the bike running is done except the installation of the air cleaner.
I got the air cleaner from Ohio Cycle(very fast shipping and excellent service). The hose came from Orazio Cycles on Ebay.

Looking good, HDG!
ReplyDeleteI was pretty lucky when I bought my bike as I was unaware of the scarcity of air cleaners, chain covers etc. My air filter and rubber element was pristine! Still, hooking that thing up is a nightmare- lots of squeezing and cursing and bent fingers.
Is that a new chain? One of the things missing from my bike was the little chain guard - the cast piece that slips in behind the chain, not the sheet steel chain guard. I bought one on eBay ($8) but was chagrined when I found I'd have to pull the chain to install it. I plunged right in but was stymied when I had to replace the chain- I couldn't get it closed tight enough to pop in the master link! I finally did with a pair of screwdrivers and the (reluctant) help of my wife.
Last weekend I drove down to Philadelphia and bought myself a parts bike. It looks like it was shipwrecked; all barnacles and rust and dents and crust. BUT- it was $100 and has (amongst other things) a fairly good chrome front fender protector!
OK, enough about me- keep blogging! Can't wait to hear about your first ride - good luck!
